On Monday February 3, Manga Entertainment will release SSSS.Gridman as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack (pictured), as well as separate Blu-ray and DVD editions. The anime's official website described the story:
Yūta Hibiki, who is a first-year high school student living in Tsutsujidai, one day wakes up to find he has lost his memories. And he meets the "Hyper Agent Gridman" on his old computer Gridman says that Yūta has a mission he must fulfill, and Yūta sets out to find the meaning to those words and his memory loss. Yūta's friends — Shō Utsumi, Rikka Takarada, and Akane Shinjō — would always help him and spend their days with him. But, their tranquil days are suddenly and easily crushed with the appearance of kaijū.
Akira Amemiya (Inferno Cop, Ninja Slayer, earlier 2015 "Denkō Chōjin Gridman boy invent great hero" short) directed this collaboration between the anime Studio Trigger and Tsuburaya Productions — the creator of the Ultraman franchise and the original 1993-1994 live-action tokusatsu (special-effects) series Denkō Chōjin Gridman. In addition, Keiichi Hasegawa (Rage of Bahamut Genesis, 009-1: The End of the Beginning, Zoids) wrote the scripts, and Tsuburaya Productions' Masayuki Gotou (Baton, recent Ultraman franchise installments) designed the Gridman. Shinji Nishikawa (Godzilla series), Hiroshi Maruyama (Ultraman series), and Ichiro Itano (Ultraman Nexus CG motion director) were the kaijū (monster) designers. Masaru Sakamoto was the character designer. Pony Canyon produced the music.
Shiro Sagisu (Shin Godzilla, Evangelion) composed the show's music, Toshiki Kameyama (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Hidamari Sketch) was the sound director, and Eiko Morikawa returned from the original Denkō Chōjin Gridman live-action show to handle the sound effects.
