Original Code Geass TV Series and Zombie Land Saga Released Monday

On Monday February 10, Manga Entertainment will release the original 50-part Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion TV series, first broadcast in 2006-7, on Blu-ray and DVD. The Blu-ray edition (right) will be a single release carrying both 25-part TV seasons.

The DVD edition will be in two separate volumes (left and below right), each carrying one of the 25-part TV seasons. The series is set in a world where the Empire of Britannia has invaded Japan using giant robot weapons called Knightmare Frames. Japan is now referred to as Area 11, and its people the 11s. A Britannian who was living in Japan at the time, Lelouch, vows that he'd destroy Britannia.

Years later, Lelouch is in high school. One day, he stumbles on terrorists 11s who've stolen a military secret. This secret is a young girl, who gives Lelouch the power of Geass, which makes anyone obey any order. Lelouch becomes the masked Zero to lead the rebellion to destroy Britannia once and for all.

Manga Entertainment is also releasing the series Zombie Land Saga as a Blu-ray/DVD set and in separate Blu-ray and DVD editions. The anime by MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames follows schoolgirl Sakura Minamoto, who dreams of being an idol, but is hit by a car and wakes up as a zombie. A man named Kōtarō Tatsumi appears and tells her he's recruiting her into an idol group made up of zombies, dead girls he has "recruited" from several eras of Japanese history.

Munehisa Sakai (One Piece Film Strong World, Suite Precure, Sailor Moon Crystal) directed the anime at MAPPA. "Kōhōkōchōka Zombie-gakari" (PR Zombie) is credited for the original work. Shigeru Murakoshi (Kakegurui, Garo -Vanishing Line- epsisode scripts) was in charge of series composition. Kasumi Fukagawa (Persona 3 the Movie #1 Spring of Birth Assistant Animation Director) designed the characters, Kazuo Ogura was the art director, Takashi Yanagida was the director of photography, and Masahiro Goto was the editor.
